We here at 1 Hour Photo love to say “Wow, what a great photo!” when looking at the back of our cameras. But, being printing people, it’s that much better when our jaws drop while looking at a print.
One of our newest additions is the Metallic Print. We call this the “Wow” print. You need to try one and see what we mean.
An example of a great candidate for printing on metallic paper, this image was printed to 20″ x 30″ dimension. The photographer Martha Blanchfield (Renegade Sailing) shares that the white spinnakers glisten and the San Francisco Bay waters looks lush and translucent. Details pop throughout the photo print.
What is a Metallic Print?
A metallic print will have the same weight, texture and suppleness as a traditional print—but it will look noticeably different. Metallic photos are produced by outputting your photo file onto a specially developed laminated paper; it’s not the ink or a surface treatment that adds the metallic feel. You will notice an iridescent sheen or metallic quality throughout the photo. Additionally, a much sharper image is rendered with depth and detail.
The end result is a remarkable glossy print with a dazzling sheen, deep clarity, more vibrant tones and a sharper look.
